The possibility of owning really colourful and extravagant fish is one of the reasons why many people enter the aquarium hobby, but before you go out and simply purchase the most strikingly coloured fish you can find in the pet shop there are a few things to take into consideration. It is always recommended to research the fish that you’re interested in before you make a purchase, since different species have different requirements. Sometimes pet shop keepers tend to downplay the sensitivity of their species to sell more fish, so obtaining unbiased advice from several different sources is always a good idea.
One example of a fish that ended up in the hands of a lot of inexperienced aquarists that never took the time to research the species prior to purchase is the clown fish. There exists many different species of clown fish and what they all have in common is that they are marine creatures and need a saltwater aquarium to survive in captivity. You may think that simply adding some salt to a freshwater aquarium will do the trick, but the truth is that keeping a saltwater aquarium is a special branch of the hobby that requires specialized knowledge. One of the reasons why saltwater aquariums are so difficult to maintain is the fact that marine species, including the clown fish, are very sensitive to organic waste products and can die from levels that wouldn’t even bother a sturdy freshwater fish. If you want to keep colourful fish without having purchase all the expensive gadgets necessary to keep the water quality up in a saltwater aquarium you can for instance go for cichlids instead. There are a lot of colourful cichlids to choose among that can be successfully kept in freshwater aquariums or brackish conditions.

Banana trees are an excellent choice for gardens and indoor plant arrangements alike and will add an exotic flare to any location. Did you know that some banana tree plant varieties are amazingly cold tolerant and can be planted in gardens where the temperature drops far below the freezing point during the winter? With the right banana tree care, banana plants can flourish in most parts of the world as long as you pick the right variety and provide it with what it needs.
The banana tree is actually not a tree; it is an herb that is commonly referred to as a tree since it grows so big. As soon as the banana stem has flowered and produced a hand of bananas it will start to wilt and decay. When this happens, you can either let nature take its course or cut down the stem. Trying to save it will not help; it is genetically programmed to die after producing fruit. The good thing is that from the underground root – the rhizome – a new stem will soon grow. If you always want to have a stem going, you can let the rhizome produce three stems at different heights. One stem with bananas, one stem that is just ready to flower, and one stem that is still fairly small. Once you cut down the stem with bananas, the flowering stem will be ready to step in to its place and so on. This way, you can always have a beautiful banana tree in your house or garden.

The Hummer H3 is the smallest car in the Hummer family and it has attracted a lot of buyers that found the earlier Hummer models too larger and unconvinient. Hummer H3’s can today been seen in the inner city as well as in rural areas. The H3 was designed to be less of a military vehicle like the H1 and more of a sporty SUV for strictly civilian use. Some people dislike the H3 and simply find it “too normal” and less extreme, while others love it for exactly the same reasons. The Hummer H3 comes standard with a 220-horsepower, 3.5 liter, inline five-cylinder engine, the same engine as in the midsize pickups produced by General Motor. The weight of the Hummer 3 is almost 2.5 tons and this is much more than the weight of the GM pickups.
Four-wheel drive is naturally standard for the H3 and the ground clearance is an amazing 9.1 inches. When it comes to off-road capability the Hummer H3 received a lot of praise since it can out compete most of the other midsized SUV as soon as it’s time to leave the asphalt and enter some rough terrain. In crammed inner city areas, the H3 can however feel a bit too large to be convenient. Sure, it’s smaller than the H1 and H2, but that just like saying that an elephant is smaller than a blue whale and tyrannosaurus rex – it is still HUGE compared to other animals. The Hummer H3 gas mileage also leaves a lot to wish fore and you shouldn’t get this car unless you have a sizeable petrol budget.
